Here it is August, and the year is moving quickly. Summer is in full swing, and the heat has been up there. If any of you have been working outside, be careful. We are continuing to do Ritual work, as our Lodge does not go dark as many do this time of year. Our officers have been moving up, and doing a fantastic job - - so next year you will be very proud of your line officers. They are a great group of men. We have been discussing the finances of our Lodge for some time, and if we do not act soon this great institution will not last. There are steps we must go through to raise dues, and I know this is a serious issue with everybody. I do not take this responsibility lightly. In the next couple meetings this issue will be discussed at length, and then voted on. I urge the Brethren to come to the next Stated Meetings and participate, because as you all know this is YOUR Lodge. Fraternally, William Bath - Worshipful Master |

Dues: Brothers, the next couple of Stated Meetings will have discussion and voting on a needed dues increase. We know nobody is thrilled about this; however, the last dues increase was in 2000, and since then the major uncontrolled costs (such as Property Taxs, Electricity, Grand Lodge fees) have increased over 35%. Property Taxes alone have gone up 63%, and Electricity charges up 53%. Each year we are reducing our small savings cushion, and we must reverse this to remain viable !! J. B. Covert was chartered in 1870. I trust all Brothers want it to remain a viable, thriving Lodge! Come be part of the discussion and solution.Endowment: Once again I urge all Brothers to consider an Endowed Membership. It costs $800 + 1 dues payment, and then never again pay dues. The earnings from an Endowment continue to go to the Lodge, even after the members death. It can be paid for in several installments. Older members may consider an Endowment simply as a way to leave a Legacy to their Lodge. | ||
