In December of 2025, Brother Breeden was installed as Worshipful Master of J.B. Covert Lodge.  Here is his story.Robert Earl Breeden, Jr. was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, on May 16, 1949. In December of 1968, he traded the hills of West Virginia for the wild blue yonder when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Bob’s career in the USAF took him to several interesting parts of the world, but for most of his service in the postal division of the Air Force, he was stationed in Taiwan. It was there, in November of 1971, that Brother Breeden was initiated into Szechuan Lodge No. 4 of the Grand Lodge of China. . In February of 1972, Brother Breeden was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason, still in Szechuan Lodge No. 4.Upon his return to the United States, Brother Breeden continued to serve in various USAF commands. He completed his lengthy Air Force career as the Testing Administrator for recruits attempting to join the USAF. If you were trying to enlist in the Cincinnati area between 1986 and 1989, there’s a good chance that Bob was the person who administered your test. Brother Breeden retired from the United States Air Force in 1989 after 20 years of honorable service to this great nation.

Discovering His Masonic Connection in Ohio

In 1999, Brother Breeden began working at Rincon Mexicano in Eastgate, where he eventually met Worshipful Brother John Rowe. For those who know WB Rowe, it will come as no surprise that he quickly struck up a conversation with Brother Breeden. Between Bob’s Air Force background and his Masonic history, WB Rowe naturally wanted to know why Brother Breeden had never visited J.B. Covert Lodge. That conversation revealed an administrative complication: the Grand Lodge of China had once again undergone changes in leadership, government structure, and language, making record transfers difficult.

Through diligent work between J.B. Covert Lodge, the Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, and the Grand Lodge of China, Brother Breeden was finally able to transfer his membership to J.B. Covert in December 2021. In February of 2022, he was recognized by the Grand Lodge of Ohio for 50 years of Masonic service.
